The 13.5-inch display on the HP Spectre x360 is also great, featuring a 3:2 aspect ratio and Full HD+ resolution in the base model. You have the option to get a 3K2K OLED panel, too, which is even sharper and produces extremely vibrant colors and pure blacks, making for a fantastic viewing experience on top of being a great canvas for work. Above the display is a 5MP webcam, which continues to be one of the best you can find on any laptop, and it also supports Windows Hello. It has some smart features, too, like auto framing and lighting correction.

HP hasn't really changed the design for this year, so we get the typical dual-tone look in both Nightfall Black and Nocturne Blue colorways.It looks great, while still being somewhat subdued. Performance is the name of the game here, and with up to an Intel Core i9-13900HX with 24 cores and 32 threads, the Omen 17 is off to a very good start. What's more, that's paired with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, giving you enough power to run just about any modern game with no issues. You also get up 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD.

The display is a 17.3-inch panel and it comes in the typical 16:9 aspect ratio, which is becoming less common. TYThe base model is Full HD and has a 144Hz refresh rate, but you can upgrade to a Quad HD panel and choose either 165Hz or 240Hz models depending on how smooth you want your games to be. Both options are very good, though. The same can't be said for the webcam, which is still a 720p camera with no Windows Hello support.

In terms of design, the Omen 17 looks fairly sleek and clean, and even though it does have RGB, it's done in a very subdued way so it's not obnoxious at all. Business laptops are one of HP's strong suits, and the Dragonfly G4 is the latest entry in the company's most premium family, which was called Elite Dragonfly until last year. Not much has changed for this year's model, but it didn't need to, considering the Elite Dragonfly G3 was already great.

The major change for this year is on the inside, with new 13th-generation Intel Core processors, up to a Core i7-1365U with vPro. It comes with 10 cores and 12 threads, and it can boost up to 5.2GHz, so it's a noticeable upgrade from its predecessor, and it should have better battery life, too. You also get up to 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD, more than enough for the use case of this laptop.

The 13.5-inch display is essentially the same as last year, and it borrows from the Spectre x360 above. It has a tall 3:2 aspect ratio, which is still pretty uncommon, and it comes in Full HD+ resolution by default, with the option for HP Sure View Reflect if you want a privacy screen. There's also an OLED panel option with 3000x2000 resolution, which will give you the best viewing experience. Above that display sits a 5MP webcam with Windows Hello facial recognition, still one of the best in any laptop.

Similarly, the design is basically unchanged from its predecessor, but the Dragonfly G4 still looks great. It weighs just 2.2 pounds, and it's 16.26mm thick, and it looks pretty great in its Slate Blue colorway (a silver option should also be available at some point). The base model comes in a super sharp 3092x1920 resolution, but you can go even sharper with the 4K Ultra HD+ OLED model, which also has more vibrant colors and true blacks, typical of OLED. Those are the same options available last year, and the 5MP webcam is the same too, but it's still great, offering Windows Hello support, too.

In terms of design, the HP Spectre x360 16 hasn't changed much, and it's available in Nightfall Black or Nocturne Blue colors, sporting a dual-tone look similar to the 13.5-inch model. Due to the larger size, it's obviously heavier, coming in at 4.74 pounds, which makes this a little less portable. For ports, you get two Thunderbolt 4 connections, USB Type-A, HDMI, and a headphone jack, so there's solid connectivity overall.

All in all, this is an absolutely stellar laptop, and while it is a bit pricey, you definitely get your money's worth with it. It's not just one of HP's best laptops, it's one of the best laptops in general.

The former is faster but uses more power, while the latter is more power-efficient, but the U-series model comes with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, giving you a big boost in performance for things like video editing and gaming. The GPU isn't the fastest around, but it should be able to run a lot of games if you don't mind tweaking some settings. You can also get up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.

The display is a 17.3-inch panel, and the base configuration comes in Full HD resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. You can upgrade by adding touch support or upgrade to a 4K display, which makes a lot of sense for this large display. Above the display, we're looking at a 5MP webcam with all the smart features we've mentioned before, plus Windows Hello support.

Being this is a laptop with a large screen and a solid aluminum build, it does add up to a fairly heavy machine, weighing around 5.5 pounds. However, you do get a great selection of ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 connections, three USB Type-A ports, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. The large size also makes room for a number pad on the side. A potential downside of the Envy 17 is that it only comes in silver, so it's not a very unique-looking machine.

Content creators need a lot of power, but gaming laptops can be heavy and garish. If you want that balance of power and style, the HP Envy 16 is great for you.

For starters, the laptop is powered by up to an Intel Core i9-13900H processor, meaning you get up to 14 cores and 20 threads, along with speeds up to 5.4GHz. For graphics, you get up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, which gives you plenty of power for video editing and gaming. Additionally, you can configure the laptop with up to 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD for storage.

Display-wise, the base model comes with a Quad HD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, which can be upgraded with touch support if you have use for it. However, even more interesting is the 2.8K OLED touch-enabled option, which is even sharper and has a dynamic refresh rate that can adjust between 48Hz and 120Hz. Above that display, there's a 5MP webcam with smart features and Windows Hello support, a standard for HP's premium laptops since 2022.

HP's design language doesn't change often, and this is another silver laptop made from aluminum, so it looks and feels premium, but it's arguably too subdued. Because of the premium build quality and powerful specs, it's a somewhat heavy machine at 5.17 pounds. On the other hand, the ports are very good. With two Thunderbolt 4 and two USB Type-A ports, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader, you have plenty of options for connecting peripherals to your laptop. If the laptops above are a little too expensive for you, the HP Pavilion Aero 13 is a fantastic option that's more affordable while still being very capable and surprisingly lightweight.

The latest model comes with powerful AMD Ryzen 7035 processors, up to a Ryzen 7 7735U with 8 cores and 16 threads. It offers really strong performance, and it's a major upgrade from previous models, especially in terms of integrated graphics, which are good enough for light gaming now. Combined with up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, it makes for a great experience.

HP hasn't made many changes to the display, so we're looking at a 13.3-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The base model comes in Full HD+ resolution, but you can upgrade to a Quad HD+ panel, which makes this an excellent choice at this price point. The downside here is the webcam, which is still a 720p sensor without facial recognition, a clear step down from HP's more premium laptops. There's a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello, at least.

Another great thing about this laptop is the design. For starters, it weighs just under 2.2 pounds, which is super light for such a cheap laptop, and that's on top of coming in four colors to choose from. It has a fairly basic design, but these color options make help it stand out. And for ports, you get one USB Type-C and two Type-A ports, HDMI, and a headphone jack, which is a solid setup.

HP has been increasing the price of the Pavilion Aero over the past couple of years, but this is still a great and relatively affordable laptop. HP has been going strong with its Chromebooks, and the latest Dragonfly Pro Chromebook, despite the odd naming convention, is a great example of why. It's a fantastic machine in almost every way, with only a couple of notable downsides.

For starters, performance is handled by a 12th-generation Intel Core i5-1235U, a processor with 10 cores and 12 threads that can boost up to 4.4GHz. It's not the cream of the crop anymore, but it's far from a slow processor, and more importantly, it's perfect for ChromeOS, which is a much lighter operating system than Windows. The only configuration available also includes 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, rounding out a great experience.

One of the highlights of this laptop is the display, which is a 14-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and super-sharp Quad HD+ resolution. That's already great, but what's even more special is that this display can reach an impressive 1,200 nits of brightness, making it easily visible just about anywhere. Likewise, the webcam is one of the best you'll see on any laptop thanks to the 8MP sensor. ChromeOS doesn't support facial recognition for login, but the laptop has a fingerprint reader instead.

As far as the design goes, the HP Dragonfly Pro Chromebook looks great in both Ceramic White and Sparkling Black, and it even has a cool RGB-backlit keyboard to give it a bit of extra flair. One downside is that it's a little heavy considering the size, coming in at 3.33 pounds. It's not super heavy, but not as portable as it could be. It also doesn't have a ton of ports, though it does include a whopping four Thunderbolt 4 connections. However, it lacks things like a headphone jack, so you may need some adapters.

Despite some design blunders, the HP Dragonfly Pro Chromebook is a fantastic laptop. Aside from being a little heavy, the biggest downside is that it's expensive, coming in at $1,000. However, it's easily the best ChromeOS experience the company offers.

Most people probably won't want to spend over $1,000 on a Chromebook, and thankfully, HP makes the Chromebook x360 13.3 if you want something more affordable.

This is the only laptop on this list that's powered by Arm-based processors, specifically an octa-core MediaTek Kompanio 1380, which should deliver great performance and battery life thanks to the Arm architecture. That's paired with 8GB of RAM, which is quite good for ChromeOS, and you get a 128GB SSD for storage.

The display is a bit basic, being a 13.3-inch panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio and Full HD resolution, but it's not bad. Perhaps the most disappointing part is that it only reaches 250 nits of brightness, so it's not great for outdoor use, but indoors, it should do pretty well. It's a convertible, too, so at least you have the option to use touch and pen input right out of the box. Above the display is a 720p webcam, which is expected for a cheap laptop like this one. Sadly, neither facial recognition nor a fingerprint reader are available here either.

Design isn't a major priority for cheap laptops, but the Chromebook x360 13.3 is at least fairly thin, measuring 16.76mm, and it weighs 2.96 pounds, so it's decently portable overall. It does look fairly simple, but at least it's not ugly by any means. It just won't stand out that much. For ports, you get two USB Type-C ports, USB Type-A, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader, so there's a solid setup overall.

It may not be a mind-blowing laptop, but if you want something affordable, versatile, and with great battery life, this is still a great Chromebook.
